Please join the Garland-Rodes Camp No. 409 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in honoring the memory and service of the Confederate soldiers at the annual Memorial Day service. These men were veterans of a war which touched the lives of all Virginians and Americans from 1861 until well into the Twentieth Century. Our ancestors and their neighbors fought against an invading army to try and preserve, not only a culture of gentility and honor, but also a way of life and the rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution. They looked upon this as their duty as Americans.
The Confederate soldiers who risked and in many instances sacrificed all that they had were from all walks of life: they were white and black...free and slave...poor and rich...old and young...men and women…
The Garland-Rodes Camp continues a long tradition of honoring the service of the Confederate veteran. We do this, not only because they were family, but because they deserve our respect and should be remembered. They are American veterans who sacrificed and died for us.
Please join your friends and neighbors this May 27th at 3:00 p.m. to show our respect for the over 2,200 men buried in the Confederate Section at Old City Cemetery.

This website and our SCV Camp are dedicated to the memory of Brigadier General Samuel Garland and Major General Robert E. Rodes, CSA. These generals, both native to Lynchburg, Virginia commanded troops in the Army of Northern Virginia during the War Between the States. Both generals died leading their troops in battle and are buried in Lynchburg's Presbyterian Cemetery.
